Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mikko Hovimaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicholas Weichel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mikko Hovimaki!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nicholas Weichel!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weichel fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Hovimaki displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Weichel.
Hovimaki swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Weichel darts in trying to clinch
and Hovimaki counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Hovimaki stuffs the takedown.

Horrible takedown attempt by Weichel or perhaps it was just good defense by Hovimaki, which made it look bad.
Weichel dives in for a single leg takedown but Hovimaki sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Weichel is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hovimaki is controlling him.

Weichel is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hovimaki defends well.
Hovimaki has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Weichel is looking for a triangle but Hovimaki pushes his legs off easily.

Weichel wants to sweep here but Hovimaki controlling him for the moment.

Hovimaki decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Weichel, up you get!

Weichel tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hovimaki sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Weichel somewhat.

and Hovimaki counters with a nice uppercut.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Weichel shoots in looking for a takedown. Hovimaki tries to sprawl out of it but Weichel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hovimaki manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Weichel wants to control but Hovimaki is keeping him busy.

Weichel is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hovimaki has escaped the position, nice work there.

Weichel is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hovimaki knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Hovimaki is pushing Weichel's head away, looking to escape. Weichel manages to hold on to the position though.

Weichel goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Hovimaki has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Weichel but great work by Hovimaki.

That's time! Hovimaki's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Mikko Hovimaki tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
