Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Derick Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Lane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Lane!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Richard Clark and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lane shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Lane stalling.
Cooper really is a fat lump.
Lane is looking to take a break and control but Cooper is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are battling for position here. Cooper manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lane distracts Cooper with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Lane wants to stand but Cooper is controlling his posture from full guard.
Cooper controls Lane momentarily but Lane frees himself.

Lane looking to sit in guard and control but Cooper gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Cooper won't allow Lane to get back to his feet.
Lane preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Cooper stands and steps away. Lane gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Cooper misses with a takedown attempt

and Lane decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cooper's guard.
Cooper keeping moving, preventing Lane from controlling successfully.
Lane would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Lane must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lane advances to half guard.
Lane takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Lane stalling away here and it's allowed Cooper to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Cooper is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Lane is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cooper is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cooper has escaped and now he's on top!
Lane wants to stand but Cooper is controlling the position.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Cooper throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lane tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Cooper is in Lane's guard.

Cooper stops Lane from standing up.

Lane had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cooper defends it easily.
Lane really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cooper. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lane is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cooper is controlling him.
Lane wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Cooper is now in half guard.

Cooper working over Lane with some ground and pound. Lane looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Cooper is thwarting Lane's attempts to control the position.

Cooper seems to be looking for submissions.
Lane wants to improve his position but Cooper is controlling well.
Lane pushes Cooper off looking to stand but Cooper dives back in and keeps control.

Lane is breathing heavily.

Cooper throws a big right hand that misses.

Cooper decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lane, up you get!
Derick Cooper is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lane is looking to clinch but Cooper is avoiding it.
Lane lands a jab to Cooper's midsection.
Lane fails with an attempt to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lane looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Lane.
Mike Lane has got the better of the ground game so far.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cooper regains half guard.

Cooper can't break the clinch.

Lane escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Lane shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cooper manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Lane would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Cooper is trying to keep Lane in close.
Lane is looking to pass into half guard but Cooper pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Cooper is in guard.

Lane is trying to control the position but Cooper postures up.
Cooper might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Cooper got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lane has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cooper has managed to get both his arms back between Lane's legs - danger averted.
Lane takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Cooper stands and steps away. Lane gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Lane tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cooper paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Lane shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cooper manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Cooper lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Lane wants to stand up but Cooper is controlling him.
Lane is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Cooper keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Lane's head.
Cooper loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Lane wants to improve his position but Cooper is controlling well.

Cooper postures up in Lane's guard and throws a big left but Lane blocks it.
Derick Cooper has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mike Lane is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Lane wants to hit a switch here but Cooper passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Lane there!

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Mike Lane.
Well Lane has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
