The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Santos feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Cherry is looking to stand back up but Santos counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Cherry.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cherry is defending against the submission attempts here by Santos.
Santos looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Cherry pushes Santos off but Santos dives into side control.

Santos has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Santos is looking for a kimura but Cherry is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Santos to get the leverage.

Cherry fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Santos to the ground. Cherry is now in Santos's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
