Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gary Bitters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Schoots (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bitters's entrance music is Maybe. A fine choice. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gary Bitters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nathan Schoots!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bitters connects with a right hand. Schoots shakes it off.
Bitters misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Schoots connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Bitters tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Schoots was well out of range. Poor timing from Bitters.
Bitters throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gary Bitters seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bitters bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Schoots's head backwards.
Schoots fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Schoots tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bitters swivels and escapes.
Gary Bitters has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nathan Schoots.
Bitters scores with a nice right hand.
Bitters throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Bitters looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Schoots fails with the takedown.
Bitters lets loose with a powerful body kick. Schoots will feel that in the morning.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bitters scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Bitters throws a push kick but Schoots slaps the foot to one side.
Bitters moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Bitters throws a body punch but Schoots moves out of range.
Bitters plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Schoots slips a jab and a cross from Bitters.
Bitters lands a head kick. Schoots smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

and Bitters counters with a straight right hand.
Schoots is still on wobbly legs! Can Bitters finish him?
Bitters scores with a sloppy right hand. Schoots should have avoided that one.
Bitters throws a head kick but Schoots moves out of range.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Schoots.
Schoots seems to have recovered his senses.
Schoots shoots in but no luck this time.
Bitters lands with an uppercut that bounces Schoots off the cage and back into range.

Bitters lands a big head kick that sends Schoots tumbling to the mat! Bitters takes a step backwards and waves Schoots back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bitters throws the kick towards the body but Schoots avoids it.
Schoots takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Schoots closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bitters circles away.
Nice jab there from Bitters.
Bitters lands a nice looking body kick.
Bitters looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Bitters seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Bitters lands a head kick!
Bitters is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

Schoots tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bitters swivels and escapes.
Bitters scores with a head kick. Schoots tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Bitters throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Schoots stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and Bitters counters with a head kick that drops Schoots to the mat! Schoots scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

Schoots manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Bitters on his heels. He'll look to pass Bitters's guard now, I'm sure.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Schoots passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Bitters on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bitters tries to get out of the position.

Schoots goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Bitters rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Schoots's guard! Nice work there by Bitters!
Bitters throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bitters trying to control the position from guard on top but Schoots is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Schoots is on top in guard.

Schoots is fighting to break Bitters's control of his arms but Bitters is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Schoots sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Bitters is adopting a defensive guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bitters has momentary wrist control but Schoots slips an elbow through the middle.
My spies in Mano`s Elite BJJ Gym inform me that Schoots has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Bitters is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Schoots throwing strikes but missing.
Bitters keeping full guard, as Schoots tries to pass.
Bitters wants to sweep but no luck.
Schoots wants to pass the guard but Bitters is keeping the position.

Schoots loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Schoots uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bitters.
Bitters connects with a body shot.
A head kick misses from Bitters.
Bitters throws a body kick that misses.
Gary Bitters is winning the standup battle so far.
Bitters swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Schoots.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Bitters.
Bitters looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Schoots dives in for a single leg takedown but Bitters sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
A left hand lands to the body for Bitters.
Bitters misses with a knee strike.

Schoots turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Schoots manages to end up in side control.
Schoots creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Bitters sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Schoots remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Schoots looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Bitters is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Bitters is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Schoots off and has taken his back!
Bitters knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Schoots on the ground.
Schoots tries to escape but Bitters has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Bitters missing with strikes.
Schoots is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Bitters connects with a big shot to the side of Schoots's head.
Bitters has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Schoots.
Bitters misses with an elbow to the head.

Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Bitters.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bitters lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Bitters.
Schoots avoids the strikes from Bitters.
Schoots rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Schoots has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bitters is working away from the top position though.
Schoots makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Schoots.
Schoots is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Bitters tries to roll over but Schoots keeps him under control.

Schoots frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Bitters tries to hold on but Schoots pushes him away.
Bitters is trying desperately to improve position.
Schoots punishing his opponent with strikes.
Schoots lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Schoots working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Bitters is looking to improve his position but Schoots isn't that keen on the idea.

Schoots working for a guillotine from mount but Bitters is in no mood to give up.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Schoots has control of Bitters's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Bitters regains control of the situation pretty easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nathan Schoots showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Schoots blocks a head kick by Bitters.
Schoots fails with the takedown.
Horrible takedown attempt by Schoots or perhaps it was just good defense by Bitters, which made it look bad.
Jab, jab by Bitters - just one landing.
Bitters throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Bitters uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Schoots has time to react.
Bitters lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Bitters lands with a slapping head kick.
Bitters looks for the body kick but Schoots saw that one coming.
Bitters lands an overhand right.

Bitters gets caught flat footed, as Schoots shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bitters trying to keep a closed guard but Schoots is proving a slippery customer.

Schoots slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
You can see the frustration on Bitters's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Schoots wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bitters, who protects the arm well.
Bitters avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Schoots.
Bitters is trying to get back to half guard.

Schoots working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Bitters sneaks back into half guard.
Bitters is trying to control but Schoots manages to pass to mount!
Bitters tries to hold on but Schoots postures up.
Bitters is wriggling around trying to escape.

Schoots scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Bitters has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Schoots's lack of action.
Bitters is trying to maintain the position but Schoots is very close to passing his half guard.
Bitters keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Schoots is working for a submission of some sort.
Schoots seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bitters does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Still in half guard, Schoots seems content to control.

Schoots is looking for a kimura but Bitters is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Schoots to get the leverage.
Schoots thows a huge punch but Bitters dodges it nicely.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bitters is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Schoots scores with a couple of nice shots.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Schoots throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

I think Schoots has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
