Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gustavo Adkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Mercado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mercado has chosen Marabahaya as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Adkins gets a takedown into half guard.
Well, if Adkins is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Mercado wants to get back to his feet.

Adkins decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Adkins changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mercado tries to avoid it but Adkins manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mercado to the ground. Mercado escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Gustavo Adkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Adkins throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mercado's waist but Mercado gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Adkins off to one side.

Mercado stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mercado wants it to stay on the feet.
Adkins is breathing heavily.
Adkins tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mercado was well out of range. Poor timing from Adkins.

Adkins dives in for a single leg takedown but Mercado sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Mercado has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Mercado is trying to push Adkins away but Adkins has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Mercado is looking to break free of the clinch but Adkins has double underhooks.

Adkins could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Adkins tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mercado swivels and escapes.

Mercado's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

A close round but Jose Mercado will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Adkins shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mercado sprawls well. Mercado wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Adkins gets slowly back to his feet.
