PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Renzo Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crazy Kure (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Crazy Kure will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Renzo Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Crazy Kure!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Winston Alpacca and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kure looks for a takedown but Gracie sprawls well.
Gracie keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kure gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Gracie counters with a single leg into guard. Kure didn't expect that.
Renzo Gracie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Crazy Kure.
Gracie wants to control from the top but Kure keeps moving.

Kure isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Gracie stacks Kure on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Gracie!

Gracie stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Kure fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Gracie throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kure tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gracie is in Kure's guard.

Kure is looking to control Gracie's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kure avoid being mounted?

Kure is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Gracie pulls his head out easily.

Kure wants to control but Gracie is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie is really struggling to control Kure but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gracie decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kure, up you get!

Kure looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Gracie has picked Kure up and slammed him! Kure can't keep hold of the triangle and Gracie manages to pass to side control!

Kure misses with a two punch combination.

Gracie shoots in and bounces Kure off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kure is trying to control the position but Gracie postures up.
Kure keeping moving, preventing Gracie from controlling successfully.

Gracie gets to his feet - Kure follows without any prompting.
Crazy Kure seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kure looks for a takedown but Gracie sprawls well.

Renzo Gracie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Crazy Kure.
Kure takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Gracie changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kure looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

No joy there for Kure, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Kure is working an open guard so Gracie takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Renzo Gracie is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kure lands a jab-cross combination.
Kure tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Gracie defends well and Kure ends up having to push Gracie into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Kure had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gracie defends it easily.
Gracie sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kure's guard.

Gracie is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Kure to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
Gracie wants to pass the guard but Kure is keeping the position.

Gracie gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Kure shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gracie as he jumps to the side.
Kure darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Kure moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gracie, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
