Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Aaron George (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). George's entrance music is Iron Maiden - The longest day. A fine choice. Jose Aldo will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Aldo!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Paulo Santos and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aldo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

George bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Aldo closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. George quickly recovers to half guard.
Aldo is stalling here. George is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Aldo seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and George has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

George decides to stand back up. George steps back and let's Aldo get back to his feet.
Jose Aldo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aldo throws a hook but George blocks it.

Aldo drives through with a takedown into guard.
Aldo looks winded!

George has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Aldo off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
George uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Aldo.

Aldo wants to take a breather but George manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Aldo.

George has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Aldo has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

George jumps guard and drags Aldo to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

George manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Aaron George is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

George tries to sprawl but Aldo drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Aldo shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. George manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

George is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Aldo presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

George pulls guard.
Aldo looking to sit in guard and control but George gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

George decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Aldo, up you get!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

George is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

George has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Aldo uses from the top position.

George ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Aldo moves away.

Aldo shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. George is trying to defend but Aldo finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Aldo decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

George manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Aldo keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
George has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

George ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. George no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

George has his feet on Aldo's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Aldo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in George's guard.

Aldo is striking but George is not phased and passes to half guard.

George stands up and beckons Aldo to join him on the feet.

George throws out a loose jab but Aldo uses good head movement to avoid it.
