Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Renato Cannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Champion Sambo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Renato Cannon has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Renato Cannon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Champion Sambo!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Igor Prikhodko and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Sambo with that takedown attempt.
Sambo shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Cannon counters with a nice body kick.
Sambo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cannon sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sambo somewhat.
Renato Cannon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Champion Sambo.
Cannon tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Sambo fails with the takedown.
Sambo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cannon's waist but Cannon gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sambo off to one side.

and Cannon counters with a series of strikes. Sambo will be more careful next time no doubt.

Cannon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Sambo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Cannon tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Sambo just content to control the position.

Sambo is staying tight to Cannon's torso, preventing him from escaping.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Champion Sambo hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

and Cannon makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Sambo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cannon as he jumps to the side.

and Cannon counters with a lovely shot to the body.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Champion Sambo dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Sambo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cannon is fending him off so far but Sambo persists. Nope, Cannon circles away and we're back to standing.

Sambo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sambo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Sambo's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Sambo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cannon knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Cannon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sambo on the ground.
Cannon tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Sambo is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Sambo has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Sambo controlling the pace for now.

Cannon is trying to reverse the position but instead Sambo has taken his back - oops!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Champion Sambo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Cannon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Cannon lands a head kick!
Sambo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cannon but Cannon pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Sambo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cannon's guard.

Sambo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Cannon is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sambo, into his guard.
Sambo wants to sweep but no luck.

Let's hope that Sambo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Champion Sambo wasn't active enough on the ground.

and Cannon counters with a three punch combo that has Sambo backing up. Sambo nods at Cannon to acknowledge the strikes.

and Cannon counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Sambo is lucky that one didn't land flush.

and Cannon counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Sambo thinking.
Sambo shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Sambo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Sambo dives in and grabs Cannon's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cannon pushes down on Sambo's head and hops out.
Cannon tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Sambo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cannon but Cannon pushes him off and we're back to square one.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cannon pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Sambo back to the cage. Cannon follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

and Cannon counters with a good low kick that Sambo was not able to check.
Cannon works Sambo's body with a nice hook.
Sambo tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Cannon defends well and Sambo ends up having to push Cannon into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
A bit of stalling here from Cannon.
Cannon tries to circle away but Sambo has him pinned against the cage.

Cannon manages to pull guard.
Sambo slips nicely into half guard.

Sambo is working for a kimura but Cannon is defending it quite comfortably.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sambo is keen to just control but Cannon is a slippery customer.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sambo is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Renato Cannon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Champion Sambo is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

And that's the end of the fight!
Champion Sambo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Sambo winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
