Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cannon pinned against the cage. Cannon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Cannon tries to sprawl but Silva drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Silva is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Silva wants to stand but Cannon has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Silva is looking to pass Cannon's guard but actually Cannon recovers to full guard.
Silva wants to stand but Cannon is controlling his posture from full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Silva decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cannon swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Silva misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cannon avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Silva clinches with his opponent.

Silva drags the fight down to the ground.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Silva can do anything to dispel that myth.
Cannon postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Silva looking for a guillotine here but Cannon defends easily.
Silva has control of Cannon's left arm, preventing Cannon from doing any damage.

Cannon drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Silva manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cannon has Silva in his guard.

Silva content to control rather than advance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Cannon gets caught flat footed, as Silva shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Silva is pushing down on Cannon's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cannon is fighting to maintain full guard but Silva has managed to sneak the leg through.
Silva has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Silva wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.

Silva lands a nice shot to the head.
Silva takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
