Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Terrence Leonard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Kinney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Terrence Leonard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Kinney!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Winston Howard and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kinney tries to close the distance and clinch but Leonard swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Leonard is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kinney looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kinney shoots in looking for a takedown. Leonard tries to sprawl out of it but Kinney keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Leonard manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Leonard circles away from the clinch attempt
and Leonard counters with a stiff right hand.
Leonard could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Kinney circles away from the clinch attempt
and Kinney counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Leonard tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kinney swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kinney is looking to clinch.

Leonard throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kinney tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Leonard is in Kinney's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Leonard got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kinney has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Leonard has managed to get both his arms back between Kinney's legs - danger averted.
Leonard wanted to stand there but Kinney had control of the position.

Kinney tries to roll over but Leonard keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Leonard gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Leonard takes the fight into the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Leonard trying to control the position but instead, Kinney has worked for underhooks and has pushed Leonard into the cage.
Kinney tries to pull guard but Leonard forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Kinney manages to break the clinch.
Kinney tries to clinch up

and Leonard moves into the clinch.
Kinney blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Leonard dodges an elbow strike from Kinney.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Leonard misses with a punch to the body.
Leonard missing with knees to the body.
Leonard trying to stall but Kinney improves his position.

Kinney breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kinney tries to clinch up.
Leonard takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Leonard wants to clinch.
Kinney fails with the takedown
letting Leonard counter with a right hand.
Terrence Leonard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Kinney.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Leonard shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Leonard was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Leonard is working to tighten his grip on Kinney's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Kinney has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Leonard is really squeezing tight and eventually Kinney passes out! Leonard breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Terrence Leonard!
