Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sol Goldman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Santiago Riasco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sol Goldman has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sol Goldman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Santiago Riasco!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Joseph Jones and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goldman throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Goldman keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Riasco shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Goldman as he jumps to the side.
A shot to the liver by Goldman. Beautiful body shot.
Riasco shoots in for a double leg but Goldman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sol Goldman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Santiago Riasco.
Goldman tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Riasco was well out of range. Poor timing from Goldman.
Riasco walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
A punch lands to the side of Riasco 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Riasco closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Goldman to the mat! Goldman manages to get full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Riasco stops Goldman from standing up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Riasco seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Riasco wants to control from the top but Goldman keeps moving.
Goldman wants to get back to his feet but Riasco is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Riasco sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Santiago Riasco hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Riasco shoots for a double leg takedown but Goldman sprawls well. He's pushed Riasco's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Riasco is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Riasco staying out of range there.
Riasco shoots in for a takedown but Goldman shows good takedown defense.

A nice combination there by Goldman.


Riasco is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Riasco drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Goldman is looking to stand up but Riasco isn't so interested in that idea.
Riasco stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Goldman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Goldman is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Riasco tries to free his leg and advance position but Goldman is retaining full guard.
Goldman is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Riasco is controlling him.
Riasco controls from within his opponent's guard.
Riasco passes Goldman's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Goldman wants to get back to his feet.
Riasco controlling the pace.
Goldman is refusing to be controlled, as Riasco sits in half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Goldman is looking to escape.
Riasco tries to pass to full mount but Goldman defends it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Riasco is keen to just control but Goldman is a slippery customer.
Riasco content to control rather than advance.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Riasco is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Goldman is just riding it out for now. Riasco eventually gives up the hold.

Riasco seems to be working for a kimura but Goldman defends the submission attempt.
Goldman is trying to stand back up but Riasco is controlling him
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Goldman is not content to let Riasco control the position.
Goldman wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sol Goldman will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Riasco is defended easily by Goldman.
Santiago Riasco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Riasco misses with a takedown attempt - Goldman sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Goldman gets caught flat footed, as Riasco shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Goldman wants to stand up but Riasco is controlling him.
Goldman keeping moving, preventing Riasco from controlling successfully.
Riasco works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Riasco is trying for a kimura here. Goldman looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Riasco wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Santiago Riasco!
Santiago Riasco seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
