PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marco Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marco Duncan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marco Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marco Duncan!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Kavanagh and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duncan throws a sloppy head kick and Miller moves out of range easily.

Duncan closes the distance and clinches.
Duncan using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Miller wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Duncan throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Miller tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Duncan smiles and moves away.

Miller tries to sprawl but Duncan drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Duncan is looking for a kimura here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Duncan tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Duncan looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Duncan wants to take a breather but Miller is having none of it.
Miller is looking to control Duncan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Miller avoid being mounted?
Duncan takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Miller tries to roll over but Duncan keeps him under control.

Marco Duncan has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Duncan scores with a takedown into Miller's guard.

Miller is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Duncan is controlling him.
Duncan is looking to work some ground and pound but Miller has wrist control.
Duncan controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Miller tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Duncan swivels and escapes.

Duncan drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Duncan tries to advance to mount but can't.
Duncan trying to control the action but Miller is working from the bottom.
Miller is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Duncan asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Duncan is staying tight to Miller's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Duncan goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Miller rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Duncan's guard! Nice work there by Miller!
Duncan is trying to keep Miller in close.

Miller regains half guard there - taking advantage of Duncan's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Miller pulls Duncan in to control the position.
Duncan throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Miller works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Duncan throws a big elbow that misses.
Duncan has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Miller is proving hard to escape from.
Marco Duncan has got the better of the ground game so far.

Duncan is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Miller doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Duncan.

Miller tries to kick Duncan off but Duncan keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Well, if Duncan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Duncan wants to stand up but Miller has a hold of him and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marco Duncan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Duncan is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Miller's half guard.

Miller pushes Duncan off looking to stand but Duncan dives back in and keeps control.

Duncan throws an elbow that misses. Miller uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Duncan's guard. Nice move by Miller!

Duncan seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Marco Miller has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Marco Duncan is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Marco Duncan wasn't active enough on the ground.

Well Duncan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
