Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lincoln Rice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jean Diamond!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Thiago Cunha and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diamond throws a sloppy head kick

and Rice counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Diamond!
Diamond trying to remain calm as Rice controls from the top position.
Rice's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Lincoln Rice.

and Rice counters with a body kick that stops Diamond in his tracks momentarily.
Rice really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Rice goes for a double leg but Diamond avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Diamond continues to drive forward.

Rice closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Diamond's guard.

Rice decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Diamond, up you get!
Rice throws a nice looking combination but Diamond bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Diamond rushes Rice and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Rice is trying to drag Diamond to the mat but Diamond just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Jean Diamond is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rice shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Diamond but Diamond pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Diamond is trying to push Rice away but Rice has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
The referee is keeping an eye on Diamond - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Rice breaks from the clinch.

Diamond throws a punch but it's blocked by Rice.

Rice breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A looping hook to the body misses from Diamond. Rice does a little dance to reset his feet.

Diamond rushes Rice and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Rice jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Diamond walks away with a smile on his face. Rice gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Rice's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Diamond stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Diamond wants it to stay on the feet.

and Rice counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Rice chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Diamond can pounce on him.

Rice keeping moving, preventing Diamond from controlling successfully.
Rice is pulling down on Diamond's head. It's preventing any offense from Diamond, at least for the moment.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Rice has Diamond pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Rice pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Diamond tumbling to the mat - Rice dives into Diamond's guard.

and Rice counters with a big head kick but Diamond shrugs it off.
Rice is trying hard to land a takedown here. Diamond sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

and Rice counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Diamond is fighting off a takedown attempt but Rice is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Diamond to the mat. Diamond regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Rice wants to work for an arm triangle but Diamond is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Rice is taking a breather. Diamond says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rice, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
