PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Buford Bass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jean Diamond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Buford Bass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jean Diamond!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Luis Engracia and Felipe Paraventi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diamond is looking to clinch but Bass is avoiding it.
Diamond tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bass swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bass avoids the head kick by Diamond.
Diamond tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bass manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Diamond wants to clinch.

Diamond closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Bass is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Diamond asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Diamond is looking to take a break and control but Bass is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Bass throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Bass shoots in and gets a takedown into Diamond's guard.
Bass missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Bass postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Bass keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Diamond's head.
Diamond has momentary wrist control but Bass slips an elbow through the middle.

Bass gets to his feet. Diamond looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Bass throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Diamond was covering up waiting for the punch and Bass finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Diamond has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bass can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Diamond working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Bass has passed into half guard!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bass stands up from half guard.

Diamond is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Bass's half guard.
Diamond looks winded!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Diamond has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Bass works to full guard.
Bass will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Diamond throws an elbow that misses. Bass uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Diamond's guard. Nice move by Bass!
Bass distracts Diamond with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Bass throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Diamond works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Diamond really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bass. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bass cracks Diamond with a solid left hand.

Bass stands and steps away. Diamond gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Bass drives through with a takedown into Diamond's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Diamond working a defensive guard but Bass passes into half guard.

Bass has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Diamond defend it? Bass steps over the head and cranks it - Diamond is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Bass!
