The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maximus lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

A nice leg kick lands there from Maximus.

Balls scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Balls wants to control but Maximus is keeping him busy.
Balls knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Maximus on the ground.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Balls throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Maximus's waist but Maximus gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Balls off to one side.

Balls fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Maximus sprawls well initially but Balls persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Balls is breathing heavily.
Balls prevents Maximus from improving his position.
Balls is looking to take a break and control but Maximus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
