Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Willy Valenzuela (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Willy Valenzuela!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez wants to clinch but Valenzuela slips to the side

and Valenzuela counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Sanchez is looking for a triangle here but Valenzuela uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Sanchez is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Valenzuela has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Valenzuela in side control, throwing shots but Sanchez defends.
Sanchez tries to buck Valenzuela off but Valenzuela is having none of it.
Valenzuela misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Valenzuela is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sanchez has escaped the position, nice work there.
Valenzuela connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Sanchez some visible discomfort.
Valenzuela could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Sanchez tries to bench press Valenzuela off him but Valenzuela keeps the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sanchez shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Valenzuela manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Sanchez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Valenzuela can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sanchez controls the pace.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

We're going to have a standup here because Willy Valenzuela wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Sanchez throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Valenzuela tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Sanchez is in Valenzuela's guard.

Valenzuela has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sanchez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Willy Valenzuela.
Sanchez stalks Valenzuela and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Valenzuela's face. Valenzuela staggers backwards, shaken.

Sanchez swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Valenzuela is trying to drag Sanchez to the mat but Sanchez just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Valenzuela has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sanchez avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Sanchez turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Sanchez manages to end up in side control.

Sanchez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Valenzuela is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Valenzuela wants to control but Sanchez postures up.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Valenzuela is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Valenzuela gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Valenzuela gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Valenzuela apologises and we restart here on the feet.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Willy Valenzuela.
I think Valenzuela has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
