Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eugeniy Akulenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jun Gyeong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Akulenko comes to the cage accompanied by Cowboys From Hell. Gyeong has chosen Intro as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Eugeniy Akulenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jun Gyeong!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akulenko throws a series of punches but Gyeong moves out of range.
Akulenko misses with a series of wild punches.
Akulenko scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Gyeong tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Akulenko paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Gyeong instigates a clinch.
Gyeong lands an uppercut.
A short uppercut from Gyeong.
Akulenko tries to break the clinch but Gyeong is controlling the position.
Akulenko is looking to break free of the clinch but Gyeong has double underhooks.
A frustrated look appears on Akulenko's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Gyeong's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Akulenko counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Gyeong is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Gyeong has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Gyeong lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Gyeong throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Akulenko's waist but Akulenko gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gyeong off to one side.
Gyeong looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Gyeong tries to clinch up but Akulenko circles away and keeps his distance.
Akulenko throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Akulenko has had enough of the clinch but Gyeong keeps him there for the moment.

Gyeong breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Eugeniy Akulenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Akulenko fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Gyeong.

Gyeong blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Akulenko goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Akulenko unloads a knee to the mid-section.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Akulenko tries to stand but Gyeong is controlling from the bottom.

Gyeong has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Akulenko has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

A bit of stalling here from Gyeong.

Gyeong breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gyeong avoids the head kick by Akulenko.
Gyeong tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Akulenko counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Akulenko throws a head kick but Gyeong moves out of range.
Akulenko avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Akulenko looks to land a body kick but Gyeong moved away.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close round but I would say that Eugeniy Akulenko will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Gyeong counters with a three punch combo that has Akulenko backing up. Akulenko nods at Gyeong to acknowledge the strikes.

and Gyeong counters with a crisp one two that drops Akulenko! Gyeong thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Akulenko to his feet! Akulenko is in big trouble!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gyeong tries to clinch there but Akulenko circles away.
Oh Akulenko is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Akulenko keeps the fight on the outside.
Akulenko moves away from the strike by Gyeong.
Akulenko seems to have got his legs back now.

Gyeong fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Akulenko, pushing him back against the cage.
Gyeong tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Gyeong is looking to control Akulenko's arms but Akulenko gets an underhook and turns him. Now Gyeong has his back to the cage.

Akulenko tries to kick Gyeong off but Gyeong keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Gyeong decides to stand up.
Gyeong darts in trying to clinch
and Akulenko counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Akulenko throws a head kick but Gyeong moves out of range.
Akulenko fails to land with a series of punches.
Akulenko pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Akulenko misses with a head kick.

Gyeong drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Gyeong controlling from side mount.

Gyeong tries for a kimura but Akulenko is defending well.
Akulenko wants to get back to his feet but Gyeong drags him back down.
Gyeong trying to control the position but Akulenko is working away.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Gyeong thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jun Gyeong comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Gyeong has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
