PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pavel Sherbo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Ash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pavel Sherbo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Adam Ash!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Ash misses.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ash has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Sherbo misses with a straight left.
Sherbo seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Sherbo throws a lazy right hand but Ash sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

and Ash counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Sherbo!
Ash throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Ash lands an elbow.
Sherbo is looking for a sweep.
Sherbo takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The referee asks Ash politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Ash prefers to stall for the moment though.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ash in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Sherbo managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Ash.
Ash misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Sherbo is looking to regain half guard here but Ash keeps moving and retains side control.

Ash trying to control the position but Sherbo is working away.

Ash is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sherbo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Ash lands a few punches from side control.
Sherbo is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Ash goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Sherbo has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Ash but great work by Sherbo.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
The strikes coming from Sherbo are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
An elbow from Sherbo crashes against the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sherbo throws an elbow but Ash slips to the side and avoids it well.
Ash tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Sherbo lands a nice forearm strike.
Sherbo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Sherbo stands up.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sherbo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ash.
Pavel Sherbo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ash shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Sherbo eats them both and turns towards Ash to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Ash clinches with his opponent.

Ash has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Sherbo is trying to keep an underhook but Ash manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Ash wants to free his trapped foot but Sherbo is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Ash wants to take a breather but Sherbo is having none of it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sherbo tries to get to full guard but Ash has control of the leg.
Ash lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Sherbo is staying active underneath Ash, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Sherbo is defending against the submission attempts here by Ash.
Ash is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam Ash dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Ash changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sherbo tries to avoid it but Ash manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sherbo to the ground. Sherbo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Pavel Sherbo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sherbo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ash was well out of range. Poor timing from Sherbo.
Ash misses the shot to the body.
Sherbo throws a hook but Ash avoids it easily.
Sherbo lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.


It looks like Adam Ash has been cut.
Sherbo throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Ash fails to land with a series of punches.
Ash smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Ash ducks under a wild hook from Sherbo.
Ash jabs Sherbo right on the nose. Sherbo blinks but takes it well.
Ash slips a straight right by Sherbo.
Ash looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Sherbo lands a two punch combo.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ash throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Sherbo throws a jab when Ash was well out of range.
Sherbo looks to land a combination but Ash avoids it well.
Ash shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sherbo but Sherbo pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Sherbo misses with a wild combination.
Ash fails with an attempt to clinch.
Pavel Sherbo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sherbo tries a head kick but it misses.
Ash tries to clinch but Sherbo is having none of it.

Sherbo cracks Ash with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Ash looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Sherbo finish him?


Ash is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sherbo measures up his opponent and throws a superman punch that connects to the jaw! Down goes Ash! The ref steps in, and that's the ball game folks!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Pavel Sherbo!
An out of breath Pavel Sherbo thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
