PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marc Callahan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Silvano Condrea (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marc Callahan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Silvano Condrea!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Konstantin Menshow and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Condrea lands with an uppercut that bounces Callahan off the cage and back into range.
Callahan fails with a takedown attempt.
Condrea tries to bum rush Callahan with a series of wild strikes but Callahan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Condrea leaves Callahan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Callahan swats away the attempt to clinch by Condrea.
Condrea shoots for a double leg takedown but Callahan sprawls well. He's pushed Condrea's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A head kick misses from Condrea.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Condrea.
Condrea rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Callahan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Callahan takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Callahan tries to clinch up but Condrea circles away and keeps his distance.

A frustrated look appears on Callahan's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Callahan tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Condrea avoids it.

Condrea pulls Callahan into guard.
Condrea wants to sweep but no luck.
Callahan won't allow Condrea to get back to his feet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Callahan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Callahan postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Condrea is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Callahan, into his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Callahan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Condrea slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Condrea wants to control but Callahan is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Condrea misses with the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Callahan is trying to control Condrea's posture but Condrea avoids it.

Condrea takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Let's hope that Condrea has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Callahan is trying to maintain the position but Condrea is very close to passing his half guard.

Condrea wants to work for an arm triangle but Callahan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Callahan moves into full guard.

Callahan looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Condrea stays in close to Callahan's body and controls the position.
Callahan could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Callahan is trying to maintain the position but Condrea is very close to passing his half guard.
Condrea thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Callahan's head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Callahan tries to roll over but Condrea keeps him under control.
Condrea is taking a breather. Callahan says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Condrea shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Callahan counters with a takedown into side control.
Callahan scores with a couple of short elbows.

Condrea wants to get back to his feet but Callahan is dominant here and he's now got Condrea's back!

Callahan looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Condrea puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Callahan is trying to maintain the position but Condrea is very close to passing his half guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Condrea is taking a breather. Callahan says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Silvano Condrea has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Callahan keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Condrea decides to return to a standing position.

A close second round but Silvano Condrea will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Condrea throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Condrea takes the fight into the clinch.

Callahan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Callahan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Condrea paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Condrea doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Condrea takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Condrea shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Callahan but Callahan pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Callahan moves in looking to clinch but Condrea pushes him off.
Callahan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Condrea sprawls well. Condrea wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Callahan gets slowly back to his feet.

Callahan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Condrea shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Marc Callahan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Silvano Condrea.

Condrea moves into the clinch successfully.

Condrea is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Callahan to keep the fight standing.

Condrea gets control of Callahan's arms and successfully pulls guard. Condrea will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Condrea is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Callahan throws a strike but Condrea rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Callahan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Condrea pinned against the cage. Condrea gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

I would just about give that final round to Silvano Condrea.
I've got Condrea winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
