Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Wade Sapp!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donk. Gerrard catches Sapp right on the button with a cross.
A punch combination from Gerrard misses.
Gerrard misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A combination from Gerrard does no damage.

Gerrard clinches with his opponent.
Gerrard lands a hook that snaps the head of Sapp backwards.
Gerrard has a couple of punches blocked by Sapp.
Gerrard softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Gerrard lands a left hand.
A bit of stalling here from Gerrard.
Gerrard seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
Gerrard doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Gerrard has Sapp pressed against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Mick Gerrard.
Gerrard scores with a jab to the head.
Gerrard's jab looks to have found its range, popping Sapp under the eye.
Gerrard goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Mick Gerrard is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gerrard fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Gerrard closes the distance and clinches.
Gerrard lands a shoulder strike.
A nice right hand lands inside from Gerrard.

Sapp wants the takedown. Gerrard is fighting it off but Sapp persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Gerrard's guard against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gerrard pulls Sapp in close to prevent any damage.
Gerrard tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Gerrard pulls Sapp in close to his closed guard and prevents Sapp from doing any damage or advancing position.
Gerrard is looking to stand up but Sapp isn't so interested in that idea.

Sapp wants to control from the top but Gerrard keeps moving.
Gerrard has control of Sapp's left arm, preventing Sapp from doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mick Gerrard.

Sapp gets a double leg takedown into Gerrard's guard.
Gerrard looking for a sweep. Not yet Gerrard, not yet.
Gerrard is working hard here to advance position.
Sapp must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Gerrard wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Sapp manages to pass to side control.

Gerrard is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Gerrard wants to improve his position but Sapp is controlling well.
Sapp wants to take a breather but Gerrard is having none of it.
Sapp is stalling here. Gerrard is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Sapp seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Gerrard has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Sapp is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Gerrard controls the position from side control.

Sapp is trying to get back to half guard.
A lull in the action here.

Gerrard decides to take the fight back to the feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sapp showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Gerrard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mick Gerrard dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Gerrard lands a nice shot that snaps Sapp's head back.
Mick Gerrard is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sapp shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gerrard pinned against the cage. Gerrard gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Gerrard clinches with his opponent.
Gerrard pushes Sapp against the cage. Gerrard is working some dirty boxing. Gerrard pushes off with a quick right hook! Sapp goes down! Sapp tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Gerrard moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mick Gerrard!
An out of breath Mick Gerrard thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
