PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dan Hardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Half Pint (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Hardy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Half Pint!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hardy has taken the fight to the clinch.
A nice right hand lands inside from Hardy.
Pint has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Hardy after a bit of a struggle.

Hardy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
No luck for Pint with that takedown attempt.
Pint should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Pint tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hardy swivels and escapes.
Dan Hardy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Half Pint.

Hardy drives through and clinches with Pint against the cage.
Pint looking to stall.
Hardy goes for a takedown attempt but Pint pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Hardy dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Pint. That did some damage!
Pint gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Hardy counters by clinching up.
Pint looks winded!

Pint has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hardy is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Pint wants a takedown but no success here.
The referee is keeping an eye on Hardy - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Pint tries to pull guard but Hardy forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Hardy has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Pint avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Hardy isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Pint stacks Hardy on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Pint!

Hardy is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Hardy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hardy has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hardy looking to break Pint's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Pint remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Hardy will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Pint is working Hardy over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hardy is on top in guard.

Hardy slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Pint changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hardy tries to avoid it but Pint manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hardy to the ground. Hardy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hardy dives in for a single leg takedown but Pint sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Hardy takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Pint has had enough of the clinch but Hardy keeps him there for the moment.
Hardy landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Pint goes for a takedown in the clinch but Hardy prevents it.
Hardy dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hardy is trying to control but can't.
Pint works his way into full mount!
Pint is landing with some decent strikes but Hardy is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Pint lands a big elbow.
Pint breaks from Hardy's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Hardy tries to hold on but Pint postures up.
Hardy is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Pint is in the full mount, landing strikes.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Pint cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Hardy is wriggling around trying to escape.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hardy bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Hardy slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Dan Hardy wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Hardy clinches up against the cage.
Hardy is working for takedown but Pint is calmly controlling the position for now.
Pint is pressed up against the cage. Hardy has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Pint down to the mat. Pint avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Hardy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pint is looking to clinch.
Pint tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hardy manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Pint shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hardy pinned against the cage. Hardy gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Half Pint has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dan Hardy.
Well Hardy has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
