PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jefferson Steelflex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steelflex comes to the cage accompanied by Dirty Hous'. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jefferson Steelflex!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, David Schapiro and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steelflex throws a sloppy head kick and Diaz moves out of range easily.
Steelflex ducks under a wild hook from Diaz.

Steelflex fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Diaz sprawls well initially but Steelflex persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Steelflex seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Diaz flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Diaz is trying to get back to full guard.
Steelflex wants to stand up but Diaz is controlling the position.
Steelflex trying to control from half guard but Diaz is working away.
Steelflex prevents Diaz from improving his position.
Steelflex is pressing down on Diaz's thigh, looking to free his foot. Diaz is holding on for now.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Steelflex takes one on the chin but seems OK.


Steelflex is rocked!


It looks like Jefferson Steelflex has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Diaz clinches up against the cage.

Steelflex breaks the clinch.
Diaz throws a wild body kick that Steelflex sees coming a mile off.
Steelflex misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Diaz tries to clinch there but Steelflex circles away.
Steelflex throws a head kick but Diaz moves out of range.

Steelflex has managed to clinch.

Diaz manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Diaz is looking to stand up but Steelflex isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Steelflex stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Diaz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Steelflex trying to control the position from guard on top but Diaz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Steelflex looking to pass the guard.
Diaz wants to improve his position but instead Steelflex has moved into half guard.

Diaz looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Steelflex prevents Diaz from improving his position.
Steelflex controlling the pace.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Steelflex shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Steelflex was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Diaz looks gassed!
Diaz is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Steelflex can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Diaz is looking to escape.

Steelflex takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Steelflex is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Steelflex lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Diaz hang on?
Steelflex working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Diaz is squirming around, avoiding Steelflex's attempts to control the action.
Steelflex takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Steelflex tries to control but Diaz wriggling away.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Steelflex is really struggling to control Diaz but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Diaz can't escape the position.
Diaz has given up his back here. Will Steelflex look for the submission or keep pounding away?
Diaz is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Steelflex is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Diaz won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Steelflex off his unconscious opponent!
