Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ahmed Reza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ahmed Reza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sam Shaw!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Anthony Taglia and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaw moves in looking to clinch but Reza pushes him off.

Reza gets a takedown into half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Reza wants to take a breather but Shaw is having none of it.
Shaw regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Reza.
Shaw keeping moving, preventing Reza from controlling successfully.

Reza drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Shaw dives on top into guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Reza looking for a sweep. Not yet Reza, not yet.
Reza trying to keep a closed guard but Shaw is proving a slippery customer.
Shaw is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Shaw's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Reza on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Reza tries to get out of the position.
Reza wants to get back to his feet but Shaw is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Reza is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ahmed Reza wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Shaw tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Reza manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Reza dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Shaw. That did some damage!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Reza shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Shaw kicks Reza off and gets to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Shaw tries to clinch
and Reza counters with a nice uppercut.


It looks like Sam Shaw has been cut.
Shaw doesn't manage to clinch there - Reza circles away.
Shaw tries to close the distance and clinch but Reza swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Shaw wants to clinch up but Reza keeps it at a distance.
Reza keeps the fight on the outside.

Reza tries to keep at a distance but Shaw has taken the fight into the clinch.

Reza breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Shaw has closed the distance and engaged Reza in a clinch.

Reza looking to throw knees to the head but Shaw is blocking nicely.
Shaw tries to land knees in the clinch but Reza avoids the damage to the body.

Reza throws an elbow that misses.
Shaw has a couple of punches blocked by Reza.
Shaw tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Reza avoids it.
Shaw throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Rezas head.
Shaw lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Reza backwards.

Reza lands a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Reza wants to pass the guard but Shaw is keeping the position.
Reza throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Reza trying to control but Shaw is working from the bottom.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ahmed Reza just wasn't active enough.

Reza has taken the fight to the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Shaw lands a shoulder strike.
Reza is looking to control Shaw's arms but Shaw gets an underhook and turns him. Now Reza has his back to the cage.
Shaw missing with knees to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ahmed Reza dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Sam Shaw's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Shaw wants to clinch.
Shaw tries to close the distance and clinch up but Reza swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Reza scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Shaw pushes Reza away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Reza gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Reza laying and praying for a moment but Shaw takes advantage and regains half guard.

Reza wants to control from the top but Shaw keeps moving.
Shaw is looking to stand up but Reza isn't so interested in that idea.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ahmed Reza just wasn't active enough.
Reza lands with a thumping leg kick.

Reza drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Reza is looking to take a break and control but Shaw is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Reza goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Shaw rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Reza's guard! Nice work there by Shaw!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Shaw is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ahmed Reza.
Shaw wants to clinch.
Shaw tries to clinch up but Reza circles away and keeps his distance.

Reza has Shaw up against the cage in a clinch.
Reza is looking to control Shaw's arms but Shaw gets an underhook and turns him. Now Reza has his back to the cage.

Reza gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Reza stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shaw swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


Shaw avoids the head kick by Reza.
Reza keeps the fight on the outside.

Reza fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Shaw to the ground. Reza is now in Shaw's guard.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ahmed Reza just wasn't active enough.
Shaw tries to close the distance and clinch up but Reza swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Shaw misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Reza.

Shaw wants to clinch.

Shaw gets caught napping as Reza dives in and scores a takedown. Shaw manages to retain guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Sam Shaw hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Reza drives through and clinches with Shaw against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Reza's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Reza scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Shaw makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Sam Shaw is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Shaw wants to clinch up but Reza keeps it at a distance.

Reza looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Shaw!

Reza stands up and beckons Shaw to his feet.

Reza has managed to clinch.
Shaw missing with knees to the body.

Reza has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Shaw clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Shaw controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Reza is looking to control Shaw but Shaw is wriggling around and keeping busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Reza is controlling the position but Shaw somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Reza is just content to waste time from the top position. Shaw takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Sam Shaw has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ahmed Reza is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Reza stands and steps away. Shaw gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ahmed Reza showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Reza, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
