Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Julia James!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Waters has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. James is working away from the top position though.
James seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

James is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Waters is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of James's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take James's back!

Waters lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

James really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Waters. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


James keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

James drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
James tries to stand but Waters is controlling his head.

James takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Waters is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if James can do anything to dispel that myth.

James is looking to get back to full guard here but Waters has managed to pass to side control instead.

James is not going to allow Waters to sit and survive in this position.

Nice takedown defense from James. No joy for Waters on that attempt.
James leaves Waters with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

James wants to stand but Waters is controlling his arm.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Julia James has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Harlan Waters is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Harlan Waters.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Waters, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
