Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Emilio Todd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miguel Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Emilio Todd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Miguel Alves!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Shimada and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Todd has closed the distance and engaged Alves in a clinch.

Todd pulls guard successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Todd is looking to stand up but Alves isn't so interested in that idea.
Todd is trying to control the position but Alves postures up.
Alves stays in close to Todd's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alves is looking to work some ground and pound but Todd has wrist control.
Alves tries to free his leg and advance position but Todd is retaining full guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Miguel Alves wasn't active enough on the ground.

Alves drives through and clinches with Todd against the cage.
Todd tries to pull guard but Alves won't allow it.

Alves gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Todd keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Alves wants to take a breather but Todd is having none of it.
Alves not doing much here.
Alves prevents Todd from standing back up.
Todd is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Alves is taking a breather. Todd says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Miguel Alves wasn't active enough on the ground.

Todd has closed the distance and engaged Alves in a clinch.
Alves unloads a knee to the mid-section.

Todd breaks from the clinch.

Alves avoids the head kick by Todd.
Todd could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Alves throws a quick inside leg kick.
Todd is breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Alves manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Todd on his heels. He'll look to pass Todd's guard now, I'm sure.

Todd might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Miguel Alves.
Todd closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Alves throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Todd was covering up waiting for the punch and Alves finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Alves slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Alves throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Todd works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Todd wants to get back to his feet but Alves is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Todd is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Alves closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Alves lands in his opponent's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Alves throws a big elbow that misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Alves tries to free his leg and advance position but Todd is retaining full guard.

Alves shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Todd napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Alves stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Todd takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Alves closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Alves has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Alves trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Alves throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Todd wants to try and get back to his feet.
Alves avoids the attempt from Todd to control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Alves controlling the pace for now.
Todd wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Alves.
Todd is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Todd is working to get back to half guard.
Alves thowing shots but they're missing.
Todd tries to hold on but Alves pushes him away.
Alves throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.

Alves wants to finish this one by submission but Todd is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Alves.
Alves takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Todd wants to hold on but Alves pushes him away.
Alves can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Todd is looking to escape.
Alves sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Alves working for a submission but Todd is keeping him at bay.
Alves thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Alves throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Todd because Alves loaded up on that one.
Alves wants to control the pace but Todd is squirming around nicely.
Alves looking to finish with strikes here!
Alves has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Alves thowing shots but they're missing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Alves tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Alves tries to control but Todd wriggling away.

Miguel Alves showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Alves is looking to improve his position but Todd isn't that keen on the idea.

Todd looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Alves tries to reverse the position but Todd maintains control.
Alves keeps trying to improve his position.

Alves takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Alves tries to hold on but Todd postures up.
Todd fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Todd manages to capitalize on a mistake by Alves to take his back!
Alves has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Alves tries to break free.
Todd thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

Alves is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Todd gets his way!

Alves is really stuck here.

Todd is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Alves is defending well though. Todd let's go of the attempt for now.
You can see the frustration on Alves's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Todd is not going to allow Alves to sit and survive in this position.
Alves wants to escape the position.

Todd controlling well, preventing Alves from escaping the position.

Miguel Alves is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Emilio Todd.
Well Alves has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
