Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mahmed Assoumi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andrew Ellis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mahmed Assoumi!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Patrick Alders and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Assoumi has taken the fight to the clinch.

Assoumi turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Assoumi staying calm.

Assoumi is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ellis knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Ellis is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Ellis is trying to control Assoumi's posture but Assoumi avoids it.
Ellis wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

Assoumi stands up.

Assoumi shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Assoumi was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Ellis wants to control but Assoumi postures up.
Assoumi is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Ellis's shoulder. That is not cool.

Assoumi moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Assoumi stands up.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Assoumi misses with a leg kick
and Ellis counters with a head kick. That will keep Assoumi thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Assoumi is looking to clinch but Ellis is avoiding it.

Assoumi throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ellis tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Assoumi is in Ellis's guard.

Ellis is really struggling to control Assoumi but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Assoumi decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ellis, up you get!

Ellis can't find room to land a body shot as Assoumi controls the action.

Ellis misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Ellis drops down looking for an ankle pick but Assoumi pulls his leg out and moves away.
Assoumi tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ellis paws at him with a jab and circles away.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ellis is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Assoumi is keeping busy.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ellis is working for takedown but Assoumi is calmly controlling the position for now.

Assoumi throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ellis.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Andrew Ellis.

Assoumi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Ellis is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Mahmed Assoumi has got the better of the ground game so far.
Assoumi throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ellis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Ellis lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Assoumi!

Assoumi bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mahmed Assoumi.
Ellis is looking to clinch but Assoumi is avoiding it.

Ellis is looking to control Assoumi's arms but Assoumi gets an underhook and turns him. Now Ellis has his back to the cage.

Mahmed Assoumi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Ellis shoots for a takedown but Assoumi saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Assoumi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Assoumi lands in his opponent's guard.
Assoumi wants to pass the guard but Ellis is keeping the position.

Ellis is working an open guard so Assoumi takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Assoumi scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ellis doesn't seem bothered though.

Assoumi forces Ellis back against the cage and clinches.

Assoumi has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ellis uses from the top position.
Assoumi wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Assoumi is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Ellis is controlling him well.
Ellis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Assoumi keeps working.

Assoumi is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Ellis asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Ellis stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Andrew Ellis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mahmed Assoumi is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

I would just about give that final round to Mahmed Assoumi.
Well Assoumi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
