PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Micha Lohs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luiz Hazzord (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Lohs might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to say. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Micha Lohs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luiz Hazzord!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Chris Saunders and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lohs shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hazzord is trying to defend but Lohs finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Lohs is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Lohs tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hazzord knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Lohs lands with a punch from half guard.

Hazzord is defending against the submission attempts here by Lohs.
Lohs is trying to control the action in half guard but Hazzord is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hazzord is not content to let Lohs control the position.
Hazzord manages to get to full guard.

Hazzord has his foot on Lohs's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lohs works his way back into a safe position though.

Hazzord is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Lohs has gone for a leg lock! Hazzord slips out almost immediately though and dives into Lohs's guard.

Lohs is trying to hold Hazzord in close to prevent damage but Hazzord has managed to pass into half guard.
Lohs has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hazzord is working away from the top position though.

Hazzord wants to pass the guard but Lohs is keeping the position.

Lohs can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hazzord controls the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Micha Lohs.
Hazzord dives in for a single leg takedown but Lohs sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Hazzord tries to pull guard but Lohs won't allow it.

Hazzord is looking to stand up but Lohs won't let him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lohs is controlling Hazzord's posture.
Lohs is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Micha Lohs will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Hazzord tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Lohs counters by moving into the clinch.

Lohs pulls Hazzord into guard.
Lohs wants to sweep but no luck.
Lohs manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hazzord manages to get himself to full guard.
Lohs has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Lohs stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hazzord swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lohs wants to control from the top but Hazzord keeps moving.

Lohs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hazzord on the ground.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lohs drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hazzord dives on top into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hazzord slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Lohs pulls Hazzord in close to prevent any damage.
Lohs wants to sweep here but Hazzord controlling him for the moment.
Hazzord tries to stand but Lohs is controlling from the bottom.
Lohs wants to improve his position but instead Hazzord has moved into half guard.

Hazzord is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Lohs is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Hazzord wants to stand up but Lohs is controlling the position.

Hazzord is taking a breather. Lohs says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Lohs is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lohs is staying active underneath Hazzord, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Luiz Hazzord showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Hazzord shoots in looking for a takedown. Lohs tries to sprawl out of it but Hazzord keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lohs manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lohs shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hazzord as he jumps to the side.
Hazzord tries to bum rush Lohs with a series of wild strikes but Lohs uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Lohs is looking for a triangle but Hazzord pushes his legs off easily.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hazzord is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Lohs wants to get back to his feet but Hazzord is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Lohs enables Hazzord to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lohs manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Hazzord is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hazzord is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Luiz Hazzord comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Hazzord has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
