Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Trevor Samuel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Patrick Alders and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Samuel shoots in looking for a takedown. Rua tries to sprawl out of it but Samuel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rua manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Rua throws a right and a left that Samuel avoids nicely.
Samuel has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Rua swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Rua tries to close the distance and clinch up but Samuel swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Samuel takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Rua.
Rua defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Samuel.

and Samuel decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rua's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Samuel accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Rua wants to get back to his feet but Samuel is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Samuel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rua swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rua fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Samuel looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Rua swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Samuel misses with a takedown attempt - Rua sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Rua stalks Samuel and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Samuel's face. Samuel staggers backwards, shaken.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Samuel creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Rua sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Rua wants to get back to his feet but Samuel drags him back down.
Rua felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Samuel misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

I've got Rua winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
