Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chad Griggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kj Barakus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chad Griggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kj Barakus!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griggs connects with a good right hand that stumbles Barakus. Barakus circles away out of range and recomposes himself.


It looks like Kj Barakus has been cut.
Griggs tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Barakus swivels and escapes.
Griggs throws an overhand right that lands on Barakus's shoulder, as Barakus tries to avoid the shot.
Barakus has his takedown stuffed
letting Griggs counter with a right hand.
Barakus lands with a slapping head kick.
Barakus shoots in looking for a takedown but Griggs manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Barakus's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Barakus closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Griggs tries for a takedown but Barakus manages to get underhooks.
Barakus is pressed up against the cage. Griggs has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Barakus down to the mat. Barakus avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Griggs throws an overhand right that lands on Barakus's shoulder, as Barakus tries to avoid the shot.

Griggs closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Barakus did well to prevent Griggs getting side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Griggs wants to take a breather but Barakus is having none of it.

Barakus shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Barakus tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Griggs wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Griggs creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Barakus sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Barakus is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Griggs asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The ground and pound from Griggs seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Griggs tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Barakus defends well and Griggs ends up having to push Barakus into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Barakus wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Barakus drops back, looking for a kneebar! Griggs looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Griggs looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Griggs!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Griggs accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Griggs throws a strike but Barakus rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

We're going to have a standup here because Chad Griggs wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Barakus shoots in looking for a takedown. Griggs tries to sprawl out of it but Barakus keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Griggs manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Barakus tries to score a power double leg takedown but Griggs sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Barakus somewhat.

That has opened up Kj Barakus's cut even more.

Nice straight punches there by Griggs. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Griggs.
Barakus misses with an attempted mid kick.
Barakus shoots in for a takedown but Griggs shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Griggs cracks Barakus with an open hand slap.
Barakus takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Griggs lands with an uppercut that bounces Barakus off the cage and back into range.
Barakus is still on wobbly legs! Can Griggs finish him?
Griggs is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Barakus darts in looking for a takedown but Griggs gets double underhooks and turns Barakus into the cage.
Griggs has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Barakus is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
