Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Marshall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryce Gryce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gryce has chosen Purple as his entrance music. Josh Marshall could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Bryce Gryce's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Josh Marshall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bryce Gryce!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marshall misses with an attempted mid kick.

Gryce closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Marshall to the mat! Marshall manages to get full guard.

Gryce thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Marshall pulls Gryce in close to his closed guard and prevents Gryce from doing any damage or advancing position.

Marshall manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Horrible takedown by Gryce or perhaps it was just good defense by Marshall which made him look bad.
Gryce shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Marshall but Marshall pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Marshall drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Gryce tries to bench press Marshall off him but Marshall keeps the position.
Marshall lands a few punches from side control.
Gryce takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Marshall advances to mount.

Gryce throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.

Gryce tries to hold on but Marshall pushes him away.
Gryce manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Gryce tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Marshall lands with a punch from half guard.
Gryce is looking for a sweep. Marshall is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Marshall uses his free foot to push down on Gryce's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gryce.
Gryce is in a horrible position here. Marshall smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
A nice elbow there by Marshall.
The referee warns Gryce that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Marshall scores with a couple of good head shots there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gryce is desperately trying to improve his position but Marshall has a good base and remains in mount.
Marshall trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Marshall is landing with some decent strikes but Gryce is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marshall avoids the attempt from Gryce to control.
Marshall pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marshall prevents Gryce from getting the reversal.
Gryce is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Marshall wants to control the pace but Gryce is squirming around nicely.
Gryce manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Gryce looks gassed!
Gryce wants to control but Marshall is keeping busy.

Marshall tries to stand but can't do so whilst Gryce controls his leg.
Marshall blocks the strikes from Gryce.
Gryce keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Marshall is looking to take a break and control but Gryce is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Gryce regains full guard. Nicely done.
Marshall cracks Gryce with a solid left hand.
Marshall missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Gryce had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Marshall is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Gryce Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Marshall's back instead.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gryce lands strikes to the head.
Gryce loading up with punches from the back mount - how long can Marshall hold on?
Marshall rolls, trying to escape but Gryce keeps control of the position.

Marshall is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Gryce gets his way!

Gryce has the hooks in. Marshall is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gryce looking to break Marshall's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Marshall remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Gryce will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Gryce is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Gryce gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Gryce gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Gryce apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Gryce fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Marshall manages to avoid it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josh Marshall dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Marshall keeps Gryce at a distance using the push kick.
Gryce misses with a looping left.

Gryce scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Marshall is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Marshall is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Gryce winds up and cracks Marshall with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Marshall won't allow Gryce to pass to mount.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Gryce is trying to control the action in half guard but Marshall is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Marshall is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Gryce pulls his head out easily.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Gryce throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Marshall blocks it with crossed arms.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gryce connects with a nice short shot to Marshall's temple.

Marshall is looking to control Gryce's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Marshall avoid being mounted?

Gryce slips a nice elbow through Marshall's hands, connecting with Marshall's forehead.
Gryce scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Gryce wants to free his trapped foot but Marshall is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Marshall counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Gryce's guard now.
Josh Marshall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bryce Gryce.

Gryce working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Marshall doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Marshall manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bryce Gryce comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Gryce has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
