Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sam Shaw!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, David Schapiro and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaw tries to clinch but Payne is having none of it.

Payne closes the distance and pushes Shaw back into the cage.
Shaw is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Payne is defending well for now.

Payne breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Payne motions for Shaw to come forward. Payne throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Payne is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Shaw moves in looking to clinch but Payne pushes him off.

Payne has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Shaw regains guard immediately.

Shaw pushes Payne away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Payne gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Payne decides to stand back up.

Payne fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Shaw sprawls well initially but Payne persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Shaw is in trouble now - Payne has advanced to mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shaw doesn't manage to clinch there - Payne circles away.

Payne closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Payne is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Shaw doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Payne.

Payne is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Payne has an Americana. Shaw didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Payne is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Payne hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Jason Payne!
After winning the bout, Jason Payne thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
