Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Erich Wilkinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Jay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Erich Wilkinson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Nick Jay!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wilkinson gets tackled into the cage by Jay. Jay maintains the clinch.
Wilkinson is looking to break free of the clinch but Jay has double underhooks.

Jay manages to break the clinch.

Jay closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Jay pulls guard effortlessly.
Jay is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jay is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Wilkinson trying to hold on to Jay's head to control him but Jay postures up.
Jay tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Wilkinson tries to roll over but Jay keeps him under control.
Wilkinson is trying to stand up here but Jay is controlling him well.

Jay is keen to just control but Wilkinson is a slippery customer.
Wilkinson looks like he's trying to stand up.
Jay working the head and body with strikes.
Jay perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Nick Jay has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Jay takes the fight into the clinch.

Jay has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Wilkinson regains guard immediately.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jay drops back, looking for a kneebar! Wilkinson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Wilkinson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Wilkinson!
Jay is trying to control Wilkinson's posture but Wilkinson avoids it.
Jay tries to control but Wilkinson manages to take his back.

Jay tries to escape but Wilkinson has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Jay breaks Wilkinson's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jay is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Jay wanted to stand there but Wilkinson had control of the position.
Jay sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Wilkinson's guard.
Wilkinson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jay wants to pass the guard but Wilkinson is defending well.

Wilkinson is trying to escape back to his feet but Jay uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Jay tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jay has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
You can see the frustration on Wilkinson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Wilkinson tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Jay presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jay tries to control but Wilkinson wriggling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Wilkinson gets caught flat footed, as Jay shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Jay seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Jay throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Jay shoots in and bounces Wilkinson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Jay prevents Wilkinson from getting back to his feet.

Wilkinson is looking to stand up but Jay isn't so interested in that idea.
Jay tries to free his leg and advance position but Wilkinson is retaining full guard.

Jay throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Wilkinson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jay is in Wilkinson's guard.

Wilkinson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Jay shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jay showed some decent athleticism there.

Nick Jay showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Jay fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Wilkinson sprawls well initially but Jay persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Jay tries to pass the half guard into mount. Wilkinson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Nick Jay comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jay has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
