The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Riley gets a clinch.
Riley jumps guard but Dodson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Riley tries for a takedown. No joy.
Riley is trying to pull guard but Dodson has him pressed against the cage.
Thomas Dodson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rex Riley.

Dodson pulls Riley into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Riley trying to control but Dodson is working from the bottom.

Riley gets to his feet. Dodson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Riley shoots in but Dodson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Dodson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Riley swats away the attempt to clinch by Dodson.

Dodson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Dodson trying to control but Riley is working from the bottom.
Riley looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Dodson wants to get up but he can't break Riley's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Riley has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

We're going to have a standup here because Thomas Dodson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Riley clinches up with Dodson and pushes him back against the cage.

Riley ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Riley no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Riley had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dodson defends it easily.
Dodson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Dodson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Riley's guard.
Riley bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dodson's guard.
Dodson wants to stand but Riley is controlling the position.

Riley passes into half guard.

Riley is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dodson defends it well.

Riley is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Dodson is not content to let Riley control the position.
Riley passes to side control.
Dodson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Riley on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Riley wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dodson keeps working.

Dodson tries to buck Riley off but Riley is having none of it.
Dodson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Riley has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Riley working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
