The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pittman closes the distance looking to clinch
and Maangas counters with a three punch combo that has Pittman backing up. Pittman nods at Maangas to acknowledge the strikes.

Maangas closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Pittman is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Maangas decides to stand back up. Maangas steps back and let's Pittman get back to his feet.
Pittman doesn't manage to clinch there - Maangas circles away.
Pittman shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Maangas as he jumps to the side.

You can see the frustration on Pittman's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Maangas remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Pittman has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Maangas finds it's way round the side to connect with Pittman's head.

We're going to have a standup here because Rolland Pittman wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Pittman goes for a double leg but Maangas avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Maangas continues to drive forward.

Pittman looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Maangas has picked Pittman up and slammed him! Pittman can't keep hold of the triangle and Maangas manages to pass to side control!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Maangas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pittman has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Maangas has managed to get both his arms back between Pittman's legs - danger averted.

Maangas stands up and waves to Pittman to follow him.

I would just about give that final round to Malupet Maangas.
