Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Danny Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paha Hemmo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hemmo has chosen In Flames / Ropes as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Paha Hemmo!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Fujiwara and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burns fails to land the takedown.
Hemmo ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Hemmo's coach down at The Way of The Fist was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Hemmo's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Hemmo on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Burns. Burns obviously looking to wear him down.
Hemmo throws a jab when Burns was well out of range.
Hemmo misses with a wild body shot.
Hemmo takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Hemmo gets a takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Hemmo seems to be working for a kimura but Burns defends the submission attempt.
Hemmo is looking to stall here but Burns recovers full guard.

Hemmo showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hemmo trying to control the position from guard on top but Burns is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burns looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Paha Hemmo was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Burns swinging wildly here.
Burns scores with a body shot.

Burns lands a jab.

Hemmo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Hemmo wants to control but Burns is keeping him busy.

Hemmo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Burns is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The referee asks Hemmo politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Hemmo prefers to stall for the moment though.

Hemmo trying to control the action but Burns is working from the bottom.

Hemmo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Burns is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hemmo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hemmo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
You can see the frustration on Burns's face as Hemmo controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paha Hemmo dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Burns misses with a hook. Hemmo ducked under it nicely.

Burns looking to score a takedown here. Hemmo is defending well but Burns drives through and ends up in Hemmo's guard.
Burns wants to control from the top but Hemmo keeps moving.
Burns has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hemmo wants to hit a switch here but Burns passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Hemmo there!
Burns tries to control but Hemmo wriggling away.

Hemmo makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hemmo.
Burns wants to control from the top but Hemmo keeps moving.
Burns preventing the sweep.
Burns controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Burns won't allow Hemmo to sweep him here.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Burns got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hemmo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Burns has managed to get both his arms back between Hemmo's legs - danger averted.
Burns looking to pass the guard.

Hemmo is trying to keep Burns in close.
Burns pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hemmo is keeping the position for now.
Burns trying to control the position from guard on top but Hemmo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Burns seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Burns wants to pass the guard but Hemmo is keeping the position.

Hemmo pushes a forearm under Burns's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Burns is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Paha Hemmo!
Paha Hemmo is the new middleweight champion!
