The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shopov scores with a nice head shot.
Michaels takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Shopov gets caught napping as Michaels dives in and scores a takedown. Shopov manages to retain guard.
Michaels wanted to stand there but Shopov had control of the position.
Michaels throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Michaels trying to stand up but can't free himself from Shopov's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Shopov working for a triangle but Michaels defends it easily.

Michaels stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shopov swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Michaels trying to control but Shopov is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Joe Michaels has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Michaels walks into a left hand.
Michaels takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Michaels is rocked!
Shopov lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Michaels up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Shopov from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Michaels's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
