PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vlad Dracol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Worrington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Vlad Dracol!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Adam Worrington!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Sandra Marshall and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Worrington throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Dracol.
Worrington connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Dracol momentarily.
Worrington lands with a nice combination. Dracol backs away looking to recover.
Dracol has his takedown stuffed
and Worrington counters with a nice body shot.
Worrington misses with the combination.
A punch combination from Worrington misses.

Worrington clinches up against the cage.
Dracol has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Worrington avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Worrington looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Dracol pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Worrington swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Worrington misses with a few strikes there.
Worrington with a body punch. A glancing blow.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Dracol takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Dracol pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Worrington tries to clinch up but Dracol circles away and keeps his distance.

Worrington fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dracol sprawls well initially but Worrington persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Dracol has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Worrington is working away from the top position though.
Dracol tries to roll over but Worrington keeps him under control.
Worrington wants to stand but Dracol has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Dracol definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Dracol is looking to control Worrington's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dracol avoid being mounted?

Worrington decides to stand up.
Worrington throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Worrington lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Dracol looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Worrington is fending him off so far but Dracol persists. Nope, Worrington circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vlad Dracol. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dracol shoots for a takedown but Worrington saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

No joy there for Worrington, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Dracol clinches.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Worrington lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Dracol or not.
Worrington doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Worrington is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Dracol is defending well for now.
A head punch on the inside from Worrington fails to land.
Worrington is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Worrington drops down looking for an ankle pick but Dracol pulls his leg out and moves away.
Worrington throws a nice looking combination but Dracol bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Dracol connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Worrington decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Worrington looks winded!
Worrington thows a huge punch but Dracol dodges it nicely.
Dracol is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Worrington scores with a couple of nice shots.
Worrington throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Dracol is looking to control Worrington's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dracol avoid being mounted?

Dracol wants to control but Worrington is keeping busy.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We're going to have a standup here because Vlad Dracol wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Dracol throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dracol scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Worrington walks into a left hand.
Dracol shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Worrington pinned against the cage. Worrington gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Worrington misses with a few strikes there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Dracol lands a head kick. Worrington smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Worrington throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dracol tries for a takedown but Worrington sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam Worrington dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Dracol tries to clinch but Worrington moves out of range.
Worrington is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Dracol rather than just go for the knockout.

Worrington fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Dracol to the ground. Worrington is now in Dracol's guard.

Dracol looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Worrington trying to control but Dracol is working from the bottom.
Dracol preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Dracol is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Worrington is controlling him.
Dracol is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Dracol is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Worrington lands a couple of decent looking shots.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Worrington is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Worrington wants to control from the top but Dracol keeps moving.

Dracol is looking to cinch up a triangle. Worrington throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Dracol's body to avoid the submission. Dracol has instead reached around Worrington's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Dracol arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Vlad Dracol!
