The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Aguirre but Aguirre pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Aguirre really is a fat lump.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ward.
Aguirre wants to clinch up but Ward keeps it at a distance.

Aguirre closes the distance and clinches.
Ward blocks an elbow strike from Aguirre.

Aguirre jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ward walks away with a smile on his face. Aguirre gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Aguirre displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ward.

Aguirre shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ward defends it nicely.

Ward gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Aguirre to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Ward is trying to hold Aguirre in close to prevent damage but Aguirre has managed to pass into half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Quinton Aguirre wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Ward lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Ward throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Ward scores with a body shot.
Ward tries to clinch there but Aguirre circles away.
Ward dodges the punch combination from Aguirre.
Aguirre lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Aguirre.

Aguirre scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Aguirre gets a clinch.
Aguirre has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ward is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Aguirre has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Ward has Aguirre pressed against the cage, preventing Aguirre from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Ward escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ward tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Aguirre swivels and escapes.

Ward breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A punch combination from Aguirre misses.
Ward closes the distance and clinches up with Aguirre, looking for a takedown. Ward pushes Aguirre against the cage but Aguirre circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ward looks winded!
Ward tries to close the distance and clinch but Aguirre swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ward shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Aguirre eats them both and turns towards Ward to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Aguirre is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A head kick misses from Aguirre.
Ward thows a body shot but no joy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Aguirre pushes a forearm under Ward's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Ward is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
