PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between DeAndre Stevenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ishikawa Goemon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Goemon is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Beginning is the End. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, DeAndre Stevenson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ishikawa Goemon!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Albert Achterberg and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goemon pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Goemon has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Stevenson is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Goemon attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Stevenson checks a leg kick.

Goemon clinches up against the cage.
Stalling in the clinch from Goemon.
Goemon doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Stevenson misses with a hook to the ribs.
Goemon blocks an uppercut.
Goemon lands with a left to the head.
Stevenson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Goemon drags the fight down to the ground.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Goemon looking to hit a scissor sweep but Stevenson is one step ahead there.
Goemon is trying to keep Stevenson in close.
Stevenson won't allow Goemon to sweep him here.
We've been hearing good reports from Stevenson's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Goemon keeps trying to improve his position.

Stevenson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Goemon is adopting a defensive guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of DeAndre Stevenson.
A left and a right from Stevenson both land. Nice combination.

Goemon punishes Stevenson's body with a nice straight punch.

Goemon throws a nice outside leg kick.
Stevenson takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Ishikawa Goemon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Danga de danga de dang - Goemon scores with a four punch combination!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Goemon misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Stevenson.
Goemon fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Goemon takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Stevenson cracks the inside of Goemon's front leg.
Goemon is looking to clinch.
Stevenson dodges the punch combination from Goemon.
Stevenson scores with a sloppy right hand. Goemon should have avoided that one.
Stevenson misses the shot to the body.
Goemon wants to land a leg kick but Stevenson is out of range.
Goemon scores with a sloppy right hand. Stevenson should have avoided that one.
Stevenson misses with an uppercut.
Goemon shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Stevenson eats them both and turns towards Goemon to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Goemon connects with a combination that backs up Stevenson into the cage. Goemon lands a flurry of punches that gets past Stevenson's guard. Stevenson is down and the referee has seen enough. It is all over! Goemon bursts into tears - this win obviously means a huge amount to him.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ishikawa Goemon!
Ishikawa Goemon seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
