PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sabastian Brittle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trevor Phillips (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phillips has chosen The chain gang of 1974 - Sleepwalking as his entrance music. The key to victory for Sabastian Brittle has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sabastian Brittle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Trevor Phillips!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Radbod Blank and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phillips throws a left and a right that both miss
and Brittle connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Brittle moves out of range of the strikes.
Phillips throws a looping overhand right but Brittle ducks down to avoid it.
Brittle fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Phillips shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Brittle sprawls well. Brittle wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Phillips gets slowly back to his feet.
Brittle scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Brittle throws a big shot that misses.

Phillips gets a clinch.
Brittle wants to break the clinch but can't.
Phillips swings wildly with an uppercut but Brittle uses good head movement to avoid it.
Phillips avoiding damage as Brittle throws knees to the body.
Brittle is trying to break the clinch but Phillips is controlling him.
Brittle wants to break free but Phillips has control.
Brittle tries a knee to the head but Phillips blocks it.
Brittle is trying to push Phillips away but Phillips has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Phillips gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Brittle really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Phillips sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Brittle's guard.

It looks like Phillips might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Brittle knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Phillips on the ground.

Phillips throws some wild stikes that Brittle manages to avoid easily.
Phillips can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Brittle is looking to escape.
Phillips lands a couple of good shots and Brittle has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Phillips lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Brittle hold on?!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Phillips is punishing Brittle with some ground and pound.

Trevor Phillips seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Brittle bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Phillips tries to close the distance and clinch but Brittle swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Phillips goes for a double leg but Brittle avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Brittle continues to drive forward.
Brittle using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Phillips has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Brittle is trying to break the clinch but Phillips is controlling him.
Phillips is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Brittle pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Sabastian Brittle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Trevor Phillips.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Phillips creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Phillips ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Brittle is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Brittle throws a hook to the side of Phillips's head but Phillips sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Brittle cracks Phillips with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Phillips falls to his knees and Brittle doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sabastian Brittle!
Sabastian Brittle decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
