PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sam Mckenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Lamb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nate Lamb will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Mckenzie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Nate Lamb!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, William Gold and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mckenzie fails in his attempt to clinch.
Mckenzie checks a leg kick nicely.
Nate Lamb seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lamb throws a leg kick but Mckenzie checks it.
Lamb wants to slow Mckenzie down by chopping away at his legs.
Lamb is looking to clinch but Mckenzie is avoiding it.

Lamb darts in and clinches Mckenzie up against the cage.
Lamb prevents the takedown attempt.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Lamb using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Mckenzie is looking to take this one to the mat.
Lamb is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Mckenzie is keeping busy.

Lamb breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Mckenzie throws a leg kick but Lamb sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Lamb ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mckenzie moves away.

Lamb closes the distance and clinches.
Mckenzie is looking to take this one to the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sam Mckenzie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mckenzie tries to score a body lock takedown but Lamb shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Mckenzie really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Lamb just leaning against Mckenzie, taking a breather.
Mckenzie is trying to pull guard but Lamb turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Lamb lands a good knee to the midsection. Mckenzie won't want to take too many of those.
Lamb doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Mckenzie has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Lamb after a bit of a struggle.
Mckenzie wants a takedown.
Lamb stops a takedown attempt from Mckenzie.

Lamb crunches a lovely knee into Mckenzie's ribcage.
Mckenzie is breathing heavily.
Lamb is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Lamb content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Mckenzie has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Lamb avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lamb shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mckenzie's guard.
Lamb stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mckenzie swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lamb is looking to stand up but Mckenzie won't let him.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Nate Lamb wasn't active enough on the ground.
Mckenzie pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lamb lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mckenzie circles away quickly and effectively.
Lamb throws a body punch but Mckenzie moves out of range.
A good leg kick by Lamb.

Lamb shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mckenzie's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lamb with a flurry of punches that miss.
Mckenzie will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Lamb wants to control from the top but Mckenzie keeps moving.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nate Lamb dominated that round.
That's time! Mckenzie's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Lamb shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Lamb was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lamb thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Lamb is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mckenzie is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Lamb tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lamb has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Lamb tries to advance to mount but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mckenzie is not content to let Lamb control the position.

Lamb goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Mckenzie rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Lamb's guard! Nice work there by Mckenzie!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lamb is on top in guard.
Lamb looking to pass the guard.

Lamb drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mckenzie dives on top into guard.

Lamb working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Mckenzie has passed into half guard!
Lamb is breathing heavily.
Lamb wants to get back to full guard but Mckenzie has passed into side control.

Mckenzie working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Lamb is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Mckenzie is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Mckenzie can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lamb is looking to escape.

Nate Lamb has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lamb flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

Lamb bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Lamb pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mckenzie is keeping the position for now.
Lamb is looking to advance position but Mckenzie has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Lamb really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mckenzie looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nate Lamb showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Mckenzie tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lamb was well out of range. Poor timing from Mckenzie.
A looping hook to the body misses from Lamb. Mckenzie does a little dance to reset his feet.
Lamb tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mckenzie paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Lamb gets the takedown into side control.

Lamb has hold of Mckenzie's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Mckenzie seems comfortable defending it but Lamb has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Mckenzie is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Mckenzie is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Lamb couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:37 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Nate Lamb!
