Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sol Bishop!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Jose!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Paulo Santos and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bishop has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Jose.
Jose throws a sloppy head kick and Bishop moves out of range easily.
Jose keeps the fight on the outside.
Jose is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Bishop tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jose paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Bishop takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Jose shoots in and bounces Bishop off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Jose decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Jose drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Jose trying to control the position from guard on top but Bishop is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bishop really is a fat lump.

Bishop has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Jose has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Jose wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bishop has him pressed against the cage.

Jose escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bishop is defended easily by Jose.

and Bishop counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Bishop.

Jose gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Bishop regains guard.
Bishop has a closed guard, preventing Jose from standing up.

Jose is looking to pass into half guard but Bishop pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Bishop is in guard.

Bishop gets to his feet - Jose follows without any prompting.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jose changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bishop looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Bishop explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paulo Jose dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Bishop fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
A head kick misses from Jose.
Jose lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bishop circles away quickly and effectively.
Sol Bishop is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Jose - that will leave a mark!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Jose lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Bishop has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Bishop and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

and Bishop counters with a big head kick but Jose shrugs it off.

The fight stays on the outside here - Jose looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Jose closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Bishop throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Bishop bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Bishop stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Bishop shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jose's guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jose wants to control the position but Bishop says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Bishop tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jose manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
