Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Demetrius Ramirez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aleksey Petrov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aleksey Petrov has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Demetrius Ramirez's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aleksey Petrov!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Valeri Chadov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petrov has a takedown stuffed.

Petrov has taken the fight to the clinch.

Petrov is trying to trip Ramirez. He has hold of a leg but Ramirez is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Petrov persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Ramirez wants to stand and escape but Petrov is having none of it.
Ramirez looking for a sweep. Not yet Ramirez, not yet.
Petrov's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ramirez slaps away a takedown attempt from Petrov, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Petrov has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Ramirez regains guard immediately.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like Petrov might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Petrov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Petrov is fighting to break Ramirez's control of his arms but Ramirez is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Aleksey Petrov hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Petrov changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ramirez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Petrov is looking to take a break and control but Ramirez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ramirez tries to lock up and control but Petrov gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Ramirez is looking to improve his position but Petrov isn't that keen on the idea.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ramirez is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Petrov is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Ramirez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Petrov manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ramirez has Petrov in his guard.

Ramirez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Petrov is one step ahead there.
Ramirez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Ramirez has control of Petrov's left arm, preventing Petrov from doing any damage.
Aleksey Petrov has got the better of the ground game so far.

Horrible takedown by Petrov or perhaps it was just good defense by Ramirez which made him look bad.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ramirez is fighting off a takedown attempt but Petrov is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Ramirez to the mat. Ramirez regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Petrov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Petrov fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ramirez to the ground. Petrov is now in Ramirez's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Petrov is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Aleksey Petrov wasn't active enough on the ground.
Ramirez shoots in looking for a takedown but Petrov manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ramirez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Well Petrov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
