Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dominic Fox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mat Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dominic Fox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mat Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Reed Andrews and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Fox doesn't seem bothered though.
Diaz throws a series of punches but Fox moves out of range.
Fox misses with a body shot.
Diaz keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.


It looks like Dominic Fox has been cut.
Diaz takes a swing at Fox's ribcage but misses.
Diaz misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Fox throws a right hand that Diaz ducks under and follows up with a left that Diaz also avoids with ease.

Fox rushes Diaz and presses him up against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Fox manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Diaz tries to free his leg and advance position but Fox is retaining full guard.
Diaz wants to control from the top but Fox keeps moving.
Diaz is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Diaz lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Diaz is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diaz tries to stand but Fox is controlling from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Fox escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Diaz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Fox is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Diaz drops back looking for a leg! Fox is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Fox manages to kick Diaz off! Diaz jumps back into Fox's guard.
Fox keeping moving, preventing Diaz from controlling successfully.

Fox had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Diaz defends it easily.
Fox knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Diaz on the ground.
Diaz pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Fox is keeping the position for now.
Diaz pushes down on Fox's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Fox is trying to stand back up but Diaz is controlling him

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Diaz is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Fox has managed to free his arm - good work.

Diaz seems to be looking for submissions.
Fox is controlling Diaz's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Diaz is trying to control. Fox wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Diaz tries to pass to full mount but Fox defends it.
Fox wants to get back to full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fox is breathing heavily.
Diaz tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Fox.
Fox has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Diaz is working away from the top position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fox is looking to escape.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Fox showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Diaz.

Diaz gets caught napping as Fox dives in and scores a takedown. Diaz manages to retain guard.

Diaz throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Diaz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Fox controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Diaz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Fox is one step ahead there.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Fox has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Diaz to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Fox is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Diaz pulls down on the head and he's put Fox to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Mat Diaz!
