Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Luther Patton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Based God!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

God moves into range and clinches up with Patton.

God manages to pull guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Patton is looking to stand up but God won't let him.
God striking off his back but it's not causing Patton any problems.
God controlling Patton's posture.
Patton would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

God is looking for a triangle but Patton pushes his legs off easily.
Patton sitting in guard here, content to control.
Patton really is a fat lump.
Patton wants to stand but God is controlling his posture from full guard.

Patton got a little sloppy there for a moment and God has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Patton has managed to get both his arms back between God's legs - danger averted.
Patton wanted to stand there but God had control of the position.

God has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Patton is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for God.

Patton decides to stand up, so the ref orders God to his feet.

God throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Patton tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. God is in Patton's guard.

God in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Patton seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Based God was stalling too much, according to the referee.
God misses with a takedown attempt - Patton sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

God closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
God looks winded!
God with the ground and pound but Patton regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Patton is defending against the submission attempts here by God.
Patton pushes God off looking to stand but God dives back in and keeps control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



God throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Patton was covering up waiting for the punch and God finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Patton has momentary wrist control but God slips an elbow through the middle.
God trying to control the position from guard on top but Patton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
God would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

God controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Patton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
God looking to sit in guard and control but Patton gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for God. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Luther Patton wasn't doing enough on the ground.
God gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Patton counters by moving into the clinch.
God is breathing heavily.
Patton tries to pull guard but God forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
God has Patton pressed against the cage, preventing Patton from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

God has hold of one of Patton's legs. Patton is fighting the takedown attempt but God gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Patton pushes God off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
God keeps the fight on the outside.

God has taken the fight to the clinch.
God tries to pull guard but Patton holds him up against the cage and eventually God drops back down to his feet.
Patton is pressed up against the cage. God has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Patton down to the mat. Patton avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Luther Patton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Based God.

Patton looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Patton seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down God for as long as he can get away with.

A close second round but Based God will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!



God gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

God has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Patton regains guard immediately.
God would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
God controls from within his opponent's guard.
God looking to sit in guard and control but Patton gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Patton wants to stand but God has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Patton gets to his feet. God looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Patton gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

God is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Patton is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Patton has escaped and now he's on top!

Patton avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
God is pulling down on Patton's head. It's preventing any offense from Patton, at least for the moment.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
God throws a sloppy head kick and Patton moves out of range easily.
God shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
God doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Patton counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
God is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Patton drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Patton wants to stand but God is controlling his arm.

Patton stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Patton doesn't succeed with the takedown

and God counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Patton tries for a takedown but God manages to get underhooks.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

God is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Patton pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Luther Patton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Based God.
God prevents Patton from breaking the clinch.
Luther Patton has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Based God is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Luther Patton.
Well God has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
