PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mauro Stokes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Srdjan Savic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Srdjan Savic was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mauro Stokes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Srdjan Savic!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Bruno Hogan and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Savic will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Savic goes for a double leg but Stokes avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Stokes continues to drive forward.

Savic is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Stokes can't fight it off and eventually Savic manages to take the fight to the floor. Stokes looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Savic is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Savic is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Stokes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Savic is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Stokes knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Stokes closes the distance and pushes Savic back into the cage.
Stokes tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Savic smiles and moves away.
Stokes fails with an attempt to clinch.
Savic closes the distance and clinches up with Stokes, looking for a takedown. Savic pushes Stokes against the cage but Stokes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Savic tries to score a body lock takedown but Stokes shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Stokes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Savic gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
We've been informed that Savic has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Savic might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Stokes haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Savic pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stokes is keeping the position for now.

Stokes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Savic gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Well Savic has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
