PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bork Lesner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bork Lesner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Michael Kane!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Michael Johnstone and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lesner shoots in and gets a takedown into Kane's guard.
Lesner wants to control from the top but Kane keeps moving.
Kane has control of Lesner's left arm, preventing Lesner from doing any damage.
Kane trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kane is trying to keep Lesner in close.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Michael Kane wasn't active enough on the ground.
Lesner throws out a powerful jab.
Kane tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lesner sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kane somewhat.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lesner doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Kane counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kane.

Lesner just leaning against Kane, taking a breather.
Lesner tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kane just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kane changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lesner fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Lesner moves into the clinch.
Lesner has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kane avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bork Lesner. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kane tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lesner smiles and moves away.
Lesner misses with a takedown attempt - Kane sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Lesner moves in looking to clinch but Kane pushes him off.

Kane fails with a takedown attempt.

Kane shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kane showed some decent athleticism there.
Kane is thwarting Lesner's attempts to control the position.
Kane is just content to waste time from the top position. Lesner takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Kane trying to control but Lesner is working from the bottom.

Lesner has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Kane has passed into side control.
Kane tries to advance position but instead Lesner slips a leg back in to half guard.
Lesner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kane on the ground.

Lesner pushes Kane off and gets back to his feet.

Lesner drives through and clinches with Kane against the cage.
Kane jumps guard but Lesner turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Kane stops a takedown attempt from Lesner.

Lesner breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Kane closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kane takes a little break here. Lesner wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Kane working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lesner is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Kane is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kane scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Lesner?

A close round but Michael Kane will probably get the nod.
That's time! Lesner's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Lesner throws a right and a left that Kane avoids nicely.
Kane stuffs the takedown.
Kane tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lesner manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Lesner wants to clinch but Kane slips to the side

so Kane counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Lesner tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kane trying to control but Lesner is working from the bottom.

Lesner is looking for a triangle here but Kane uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kane moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Kane has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Kane tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lesner sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kane somewhat.

Kane takes the fight into the clinch.

Kane jumps guard and drags Lesner to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kane is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Lesner content to stall in guard here.

Kane is wriggling around but Lesner manages to pass to half guard.
Kane wants to control but Lesner is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Lesner shoots for a double leg takedown but Kane sprawls well. He's pushed Lesner's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Kane is pushing down on Lesner's leg trying to pass to half guard. Lesner is fighting to maintain full guard but Kane has managed to sneak the leg through.
Lesner wants to improve his position but Kane is controlling well.
Kane is keen to just control but Lesner is a slippery customer.

Kane is working for a kimura but Lesner is defending it quite comfortably.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Michael Kane hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Kane swats away the attempt to clinch by Lesner.
Lesner defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kane.
A slapping body kick lands there for Lesner.
Kane takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Lesner dives in for a single leg takedown but Kane sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Kane is trying to pull guard but Lesner turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Kane creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bork Lesner.
Lesner explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Kane circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lesner lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Lesner fails in his attempt to clinch.
Lesner wants to clinch up but Kane keeps it at a distance.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kane gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Lesner escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bork Lesner has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Michael Kane is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Kane tries to clinch up but Lesner circles away and keeps his distance.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Michael Kane.
I've got Kane winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
