The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Silva looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Thompson throws a lazy right hand but Silva sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Thompson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Thompson stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Silva to get to his feet.
Donk. Thompson catches Silva right on the button with a cross.

Silva scores with a takedown into Thompson's guard.
Silva is looking to stand up but Thompson won't let him.
Thompson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Silva is controlling him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Silva tries to stand but Thompson is controlling from the bottom.
Silva stops Thompson from standing up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thompson is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Silva tries to land knees in the clinch but Thompson avoids the damage to the body.
Thompson tries to circle away but Silva has him pinned against the cage.
Silva jumps guard but Thompson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Silva prevents a body shot from Thompson.
Silva is trying to push Thompson away but Thompson has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Silva tries to throw a body punch but Thompson avoids it by throwing Silva back against the cage.

Silva manages to break the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Silva looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Silva tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Thompson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Silva with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Thompson to score with a decent uppercut.
Silva takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Silva is looking to clinch.
Thompson avoids the body shot from Silva.

Thompson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Silva looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Thompson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch but Thompson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nice uppercut there from Silva.

and Thompson counters with a straight right hand.
Thompson throws a lazy right hand but Silva sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Thompson!
Silva is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Thompson.

Silva is rocked!
Silva gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Thompson gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
