The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gordon looking to score a takedown here. Beam is defending well but Gordon drives through and ends up in Beam's guard.
Beam pulls Gordon in close to prevent any damage.

Gordon might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Beam haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Derek Gordon was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Gordon thows a huge punch but Beam dodges it nicely.

Beam pushes Gordon off looking to stand but Gordon dives back in and keeps control.

Gordon thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Beam's head.
Beam is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Beam is defending against the submission attempts here by Gordon.
Gordon frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Beam is desperately trying to improve his position but Gordon has a good base and remains in mount.
Beam holds of for dear life.
Gordon throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
