Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alexei Varga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Richie Furst!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Furst tries to clinch but Varga moves out of range.
Furst tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Varga paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Varga has Furst pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Varga pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Furst tumbling to the mat - Varga dives into Furst's guard.

Furst working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Varga doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Varga manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Furst bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Varga's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Varga seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Furst is fighting to break Varga's control of his arms but Varga is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Varga's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Alexei Varga just wasn't active enough.
Furst lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Varga shoots in and gets a takedown into Furst's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Varga avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Varga works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Varga perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Furst tries to roll over but Varga keeps him under control.
Varga is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Furst is in all sorts of trouble here.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Alexei Varga will probably get the nod.

Furst wants to control from the top but Varga keeps moving.
Alexei Varga overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Varga pulls Furst in close to his closed guard and prevents Furst from doing any damage or advancing position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Alexei Varga.

Varga shoots in and bounces Furst off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Furst not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Furst is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Varga has his hands clasped together but Furst extends and breaks Varga's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Furst.
